Ao Nang Beach area is the main tourist spot in Krabi province. The highlight of Ao Nang is Railay Beach at Phra Nang Bay on Railay peninsula. Easy to access when coming on the road from Phuket and Phang Nga. Just drive straight at the intersection where the bypass road to Trang turns left, after a few kilometers you will see the road sign pointing to the right towards Phra Nang or Ao Phra Nang.

Originally a fishing village, Ao Nang is now a major city beach resort and a travel destination in its own right catering for the full range of foreign tourists. Ao Nang’s chief feature is a long white sand beach set against crystal clear water, but people also come here for a full range of activities such as diving, kayaking and trekking. Less developed than other beaches in Thailand, Ao Nang none the less offers guesthouses and hotels that fit any budget.

Ao Nang or Ao Phra Nang is a rather small seaside village, the main street is along the beach, at one side are shops, restaurants, Ao Nang hotels and resorts, Thai bars

You can get everything there what you need in your Krabi vacation. If you want to do a short trip maybe to Railay Beach east and west take one of the long tail boat’s waiting at the beach at the other side of the road. Although the beach here is not bad try to hire a boat and have a look for Chicken Island which is a Krabi Island not far off, the beach and view there is much better and existing, also the sand is great.

The beach enjoys a vibrant nightlife which includes excellent seafood restaurants dotted along the beach and some bars that offer live music. However, this is not an ‘expat’ type scene oppressive numbers of go-go bars, etc. It has a much nicer feel and is a good choice for families.

Bird watching is a favourite in the area, as are jungle treks and boats to neighboring islands. Diving is another popular draw and again agencies in the area arrange dives for all levels. They also offer liveaboard trips that take in the local islands. Day trips are relatively inexpensive, but ask around for the most reliable places and shop around for the best deals.

The long tail boats will take you also to any other places you want to see off shore. Accommodations of all kind, from expensive hotels to cheap beach huts are around, have a Thai massage or rent a motorbike, its all there.

Ao Nang beach is a scenic bay - white sandy beach stretches to the foot of a conspicuously prominent limestone range. Set in lush tropical gardens and surrounded by coconut trees, the Ao Nang beach offers some of the most dramatic coastal scenery in the world - sandy beaches, abundant marine life, live coral and great underwater visibility nearby.

The limestone formations are so unbelievable and unique it got Krabi and the Railay area a great reputation for great vacation or holidays, rock climbing and the right place to have a good time. Ton Sai is the most frequented climbing spot in the area, there are some more climbing spots in secluded areas check with the shops if you want explore them, they will arrange it for you.

Krabi Rock climbing is offered at Railay Beach east, just around the peninsular when start at Phra Nang Bay plus other places, also on the islands just off Railay Beach. If you are out for a limestone cliff climb just check with one of the shops selling climbing gear they also give lessons at various skill levels.

The Beach area is also the primary Krabi nightlife spot but its rather quiet and the hanky panky glitter night business such as like in Phuket is minimal. Krabi and Railay Beach at Phra Nang Bay is a more family oriented quiet atmosphere.

Ao Nang beach at Ao Nang Bay has a couple of beach resort but the beach paradise starts further south at Railay Beach. Several great beach resorts, a nice beach village and bungalow on the beach. Surrealistic cliffs border the beach, its a incredible holiday beach.

Ao Nang is a great sea beach but no sunrise beach, rather a sunset beach but for sure one of the real good  beaches of Thailand.
